The U.S. Department of Education (Department) is pleased to offer two topical workshops for Cohort 3 Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grantees in addition to the annual grantee meeting. The first workshop will focus on issues related to principal evaluation, and the second will cover measurement issues, including value-added measurement. The Department, together with its technical assistance team, identified these two areas of particular importance to grantees. The principal evaluation meeting will take place at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio, TX, on March 28-29. The value-added and measurement meeting will be held at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on June 5-6, 2012.
These one and a half day highly focused workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to delve deeply into the content areas. Each meeting will feature national experts and practitioners who will provide grantees with key information about the topic areas. Grantees will also have the opportunity to collaborate and discuss issues and best practices with one another. The meetings will include sessions targeted to all knowledge levels, from novices to those with an advanced command of the subject matter.
Each grantee is allowed a total of two spots between the two meetings: one person may attend each, or two people may attend one. Though the Department cannot guarantee space for additional attendees, grantees are encouraged to place additional attendees on the waiting lists. The Department will automatically place a third grantee registrant and any subsequent registrants from that grantee on the waiting list.
