On behalf of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Synergy Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) is pleased to provide you with information for the Imaging Imagining – The Mirror System and Beyond: Neural Representation of the Self and Others workshop. The workshop is scheduled to take place on February 20-21, 2008 at the NIDA Neuroscience Building. The Neuroscience Building is located at 6001 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20852.

The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in Conference Room C/D. Thursday, February 21, 2008, the workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. on both mornings.

Workshop Location

The NSC Building is located approximately:

• 24 miles (35-minute drive during non-rush hours or 44-minute train ride to White Flint Metrorail Station, http://www.wmata.com) from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), http://www.mwaa.com/national;
• 26 miles (35-minute drive during non-rush hours) from Dulles International Airport (IAD), http://www.metwashairports.com/Dulles; and
• 37 miles (45-minute drive during non-rush hours) from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), http://www.bwiairport.com.

Security at the NSC Building

Non-NIH employees will be required to show a picture ID and to have their bags searched to enter the NSC Building; building security will then issue you a visitor badge. Pay parking is readily available at this location. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the workshop start time to allow for the security process.

Directions to NSC via Metrorail Red Line and NIH Shuttle

• From any point in the Metro system, take the Red Line to the White Flint station (which is two stops from the Medical Center station). The NSC building is a 10-minute walk from White Flint station. As you exit the station, locate Marinelli Road and walk west toward Executive Boulevard.
• Alternatively, take the Red Line to the Medical Center station. At the Metro station, look for the NIH shuttle stop, and if you have an NIH ID you can take the free NIH shuttle “Executive Plaza” route, which drops you off in front of Building 6001.
• OR, you can board a Ride-On bus (routes 5, 26, or 81) for service along Executive Boulevard. These routes stop at the driveway entrance to the NSC Building, and from there it’s a short walk to the building.

Driving Directions to NSC

If you are driving or arriving by taxi, please note that the visitor parking entrance is at the second driveway traveling from east to west. The first driveway is accessible only to NIH employees with the appropriate “e-parking” permits. The visitor parking lot is a paid facility operated by PMI ― up to the first ½ hour is free, the first hour is $2.00, and each additional hour is $1.00 up to the maximum $7.00/day.
