PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Prachee J. Devadas, President/CEO

Reaching Out to Generation Y

As the school year comes to an end and summer approaches, here at SEI, we are prepared to do our part to promote business and entrepreneurial skills among youth. We understand the important role youth play in ensuring the prosperity of and in safeguarding the security of our Nation for generations to come. Our newest group of interns will work side by side with SEI staff on projects and contracts that directly influence their lives and the lives of youth nationwide. From the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, for which SEI is developing a professional development module, to the Student Drug-Testing Institute, a coordinated, one-stop information resource, the projects that our interns will help us and our clients support are directly aimed at improving opportunities for success for Generation Y and the many generations to follow. I am proud of the work we do at SEI to promote the growth of future generations and look forward to seeing them blossom into future leaders.

SEI CARES

Division Director Serves on Board of
Children’s Center

As a former educator and a substance abuse and mental health expert, it only makes sense that Roy Walker, director of SEI’s Division of Assessment and Evaluation Services, finds a way to combine his two passions to positively serve the community. He currently serves as vice president of the Board of Directors for Hillcrest Children’s Center, a non-profit outpatient mental health facility located in the District of Columbia. The center, which serves children and adolescents ages 5-20, as well as their families, provides substance abuse and mental health services to residents of the DC area. Program areas include: individual, group, and family therapy; psychiatric evaluation; parenting education; anger and stress management; youth substance abuse treatment and prevention; community support services, depression intervention program; and crisis intervention and emergency services. The center was founded by Dolly Madison in 1815 in response to the number of homeless and destitute children left roaming the streets following the War of 1812.
