ALBERTO ZUAZO Selected as
Employee of the Quarter

(August 1, 2011) Silver Spring, MD—In honor of the hard work of employees who support the efforts of Synergy Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) to provide consistent and innovative services to clients, SEI has selected its ninth Employee of the Quarter. Alberto Zuazo, an Assistant Grants Supervisor for SEI’s Division of Research and Peer Review Services, earned this prestigious award for surpassing expectations, consistently providing exceptional client service, demonstrating advanced technical expertise, exhibiting cooperation and teamwork, and offering creative approaches to tasks and problem solving.

Alberto is a team player who is always willing to support projects and initiatives outside of his division, including the Division of Information Technology and corporate initiatives. In the nomination form for this award, it was noted: “Every team he has worked with has been pleased with his teamwork and going above and beyond spirit. Kudos to Alberto.”

Alberto's eagerness is always matched with his ability to exceed expectations. Specifically, when the company began preparing to consolidate its suites into one office space, he assisted in tracking and cataloging all furniture. Although he was only asked to provide a simple list, Alberto went further by creating several workbooks that divided the information into easy-to-read sections.

He has also showcased advanced computer skills and a talent for transforming data into useful, actionable information. Recently, the Middle East Partnership Initiative contract submitted a last-minute request, which required copies to be made and packets to be compiled within a 1-day turnaround. Alberto volunteered to help and stayed after business hours to complete the task, which allowed the ensuing peer review session to run smoothly.

SEI staff members nominate employees each quarter. During the nomination process, SEI asks employees to describe what makes the nominee unique and to explain how he or she best exemplifies SEI’s core values, including specific examples of noteworthy behavior or work ethic. SEI’s executive team reviews the nominations, and one winner is selected based on his or her proven ability to perform well in each of the categories listed above.

1. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I remember dreaming about becoming the owner of a bank.

2. Name one place you’d like to visit before you retire.
I would love to go to Monaco and see the Formula 1 Grand Prix race.

3. Who or what motivates you to be such a hard worker?
I think what inspires me is that I believe that all of us have the ability to be better than we were the day before. We just need to learn something every day, work hard, innovate and be curious. The people who inspire me are my grandfather and my uncle. Both of them were/are hard working people with great results in their lives.
