The Deputy Under
Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy, in
collaboration with the military Services, is inviting selected
communities that are gaining military dependent students due to Base
Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and other rebasing initiatives to
attend a DoD Conference on Education for Military-Connected
Communities.
The Department recognizes the work of schools, communities, states
and the military Services who promote school transition support and
provide quality education for military students during this time of
large-scale relocation of families. DoD welcomes the opportunity to
work with these communities to enhance educational
opportunities for children.
To augment the work already started by many communities, the DoD
Conference on Education will address financial options, facilities
expansion, school choice, and quality education. Best practices,
strategies and resources also will be shared with participating
communities.
